Meet The Team

Graham Tarry 

Graham has been with Radio Halton since 2013 and is the Chair at our monthly meetings. He teaches sums at Sandymoor School, so can only broadcast during school holidays on a Wednesday morning between 10 and 12

John Timms

John joined Radio Halton over 15 years ago and was very apprehensive about learning something ne, however he has never looked back. John became a Trustee and the Treasurer a few years ago. Listen to John on Mondays between 11am and 1pm. John also presents a 50s and 60s show on a Tuesday between 5pm and 7pm. You can also catch John, when he broardcasts a show with Derek on a Thursday morning 10am to midday.

Derek Gates

Derek is presently the Station Manager at Radio Halton and is involved in the smooth running of the studio as well as presenting his show every Wednesday afternoon between 2 and 4. You can also listen to Derek, when he is joined by John Timms on Thursdays mornings 10am to midday.

Eileen Kelly

Eileen initially joined Radio Halton to chat to patients and the wards and collect song requests. However after being introduced to the studio Eileen was soon presenting her own show. Eileen is now the Secretary and is busy undertaking all those admin tasks that have to be done. Listen to Eileen on a Friday morning., between 12 and 1pm.

Deborah Reynolds

Deborah, after a lot of persuading from Derek, joined Radio Halton in 2019 and now loves presenting her show. You can listen to Deborah on Tuesdays between 11am and 1pm.

James Wooding

James is our newest recruit and the youngest member of our team. Listen to James every Friday between 10 and 12. 

Dave Cooper. Dave has been a lifelong music fan. As well as his love for music, he is a Halton Health Walk Leader and a Widnes Vikings fan. You can listen to Dave on a Monday morning between 9 and 11. Dave also presents a Classic Rock Show on the 1st, 3rd (and 5th if applicable) Mondays of every month, between 7pm and 8pm.

Stephen Reynolds

Stephen is our techie and keeps all our equipment in tip top condition. We  keep him so busy that he doesn’t have time to present a show! Although he sometimes joins his wife, Deborah, on her show on Tuesday mornings.

Pete Redmond

Pete joined us in 2023 and having been fully trained by Derek is now presenting his own shows. Listen to Pete on a Sunday morning between 9 and 12 also fortnightly on a Thursday evening 5pm to 7pm.

Karl Davies

Karl joined us as a Presenter in late 2023. Karl is now back from his break and you can listen to him every Saturday beween 3pm and 4pm.

Kathy McMullin

Kathy decided to join Radio Halton, after being interviewed by Derek in her role with Healthwatch Halton. You can listen to Kathy on Wednesday evenings between 5 and 7. 

Kathy will be broadcasting a monthly Health Show normally on a Wednesday. 

 

John Trevor Williams , aka JT

JT is one of our newest recruits, starting in June 2025 and has had previous experience broadcasting a live show on the radio. You can listen to JT, every Monday night, between 8pm and 10pm, when he will ne playing eclectric tunes for you.

 

 

 

A.J & Paul

A.J and Paul have been working together on the mobile disco party circuit for over 20 years. Starting on 10 July 2025, they will be presenting their show every Thursday evening, between 7pm and 9pm. Expect lots of great music, chat, fun, trivia and memories from years gone by.

John Holton

Welcome to John who is one of our latest recruits at Radio Halton. Over the next few weeks, Eileen will be training John on a Tuesday between 9am and 11am. Once trained John will fly solo broadcasting live each Tuesday morning.

Ian Frost

Ian Frost

Welcome to Ian who is another of our newest recruits. Derek will be training Ian on a Wednesday afternoon, between 2pm and 4pm. Once trained Ian will have the 12 until 2pm slot on a Thursday afternoon.

Listen through our Livestream, by clicking here. We can also be heard via speakers in three Out-patient clinics (A, B and C), ECG Waiting Area, Blood Testing Reception plus the Tea Bar area at the front of the hospital (Entrance 1).

Credit is due to graphic designer Jason Hill for our musical logo at the top of the pages. It links in with the NHS logo which is blue, and being a bass clef, also harmonises (sorry!) with our sister station Radio General in Warrington who have a blue and white treble clef.

Radio Halton can be contacted by Text or Whats App on 07450839108.  The request or dedication will be played during the next Live Programme, or virtually straightaway if a Presenter is on air at the time.
